A sensation display by Lee Briers who defied a virus that kept Logan Swann out of the game on top of a very good go forward from Jon Clarke, Paul Wood Chris Leikvoll and Danny Lima saw Wire come from 14-nil down to run out comfortable winners. Winger Henry Fa'afili (3), Chris Bridge, Mike Wainwright and Richie Bartnett all crossed, but Briers was the hero, scoring 18 points as Wolves ran riot. Siad coach Paul Cullen Lee was touch and go all the way through," said coach Paul Cullen. "He put himself out for the cause. "When you are on the ropes and the blows are coming thick and fast you've got to look to your senior players and they answered the call. "I think we handled the adversity very well. It was a magnificent performance under pressure. "Hull must have thought it was Christmas morning when we kept 'gifting' them possession. It was a real test of character, and the guys came through with flying colours.

Explosive Samoan front-rower Danny Lima is among those in the 18 man squad for the fixture and believes this weekend is the perfect time for The Wolves to live up to their potential on the field in front of Sky Sports cameras. Ahead of the game Lima said: "We need to get back to playing the basic stuff well, playing simple Rugby and completing our sets. A new season brings hype at every club, now we want to get out on to the field and perform as we know we can. Nobody at The Halliwell Jones Stadium is panicking despite two defeats, we are staying very positive." "Hull are a big strong side, they have quality players and have started off flying. We will respect them, but not fear them." Wolves Community is a Blue Print The unique community partnerships at The Halliwell Jones Stadium are set by be used as a blueprinted for Oldham Athletics' new football arena. Warrington Wolves Chief Executive Andy Gatcliffe, who helped forge links with the NHS and the Primary Care Trust at the Super League stadium addressed the committee behind The Latics proposals for an £80m 16,000 capacity all seater stadium. Mr Gatcliffe, told guests including Oldham managing director Simon Corney and former manager Joe Royle that successful link ups with local heath services can add a unique community element to a stadium or arena. Oldham Athletic managing director Simon Corney said: "The success of the Halliwell Jones Stadium has been highly impressive. We have been particularly impressed with the partnerships formed between the Rugby club and the PCT and asked Andy to come and share some of his experiences with us at the launch event for our new stadium" Oldham Athletic, who ply their trade in The Coca-League Football League One firstly hopes to replicate Warrington Wolves ties up the Primary Care Trust's healthcare services. They want to offer services such as physiotherapy, podiatry and dentistry in office space within the new South Stand. The Oldham Roughyeds Rugby League Club would continue to share the stadium and their chairman, Chris Hamilton, has praised the plans. Local MPs Michael Meacher and Phil Woolas have also backed the proposals. The "Oldham Arena" is set to be a futuristic sport, corporate and leisure facility and could create at least 1,000 new jobs. Club officials see the project as an opportunity to regenerate the borough and - following failed schemes like Sports Park 2000 and Ferney Field - are now challenging the public and private sectors to show the commitment required to realise their Boundary Park dream. The vision is to transform the prime 21-acre site into a showcase complex containing community and corporate facilities the town currently lacks. A planning application is set for submission by the end of 2006 to enable construction work to start at the end of the 2006/7 football season. Development would be phased, starting with the construction of a new Broadway Stand, then replacing the current Chadderton Road and Main Stand. Only the Rochdale Road End, built in 1992, would remain intact.

Wolves Ticketing This Saturday sees the second home game of Super League XI at The Halliwell Jones Stadium with the visit of in form Hull FC and the return of ex-Wolves favourite Sid Domic. The rugby-hungry Warrington public have been busy snapping up the few remaining tickets meaning there are now just 150 seats available in the East Stand, 550 in the North and 500 tickets for the South Stand. Fans are again advised to purchase tickets prior to game day to guarantee a place in their favourite stand, as another sell-out is expected in our popular South and East Stands. Tickets are available from the club shop or online at www.wolfwareonline.com

Anyone who has bought one of the new Wire car flags and the flag has ripped off whilst travelling, can get a new flag or a refund from the shop if you take the white stick to the club shop.

20th February. Paul Cullens after match interview, "A game that was in the balance for long periods, and we find ourselves in a lot healthier position than we were at 4.30 seven days ago, so we have got no injuries and a much improved performance but to be fair we are bitterly disappointed we have not gone home with two points, we have hurt ourselves with penalties conceded on the first and second tackle and certainly when we were ten nil in front and a well deserved ten nil barrier at that point we have lost a little bit of momentum and surrendered field position and it allowed Huddersfield back into the game, so it is much improved with a lot of work still to do, Question from the floor " Chris Bridge had a very good game Paul which justified leaving Sullivan on the bench" Answer"He was dynamic he was strong and he ran the ball he looks lke a player who has got the shirt and he is not going to give it up which is exactly what we need at the moment if there was one thing missing last week it was fight and go forward at times and Chris Bridge provided that."

19th February. Huddersfield v Warrington .A somewhat depleted side from Cullen's first choice took the field at Huddersfield, a Briers kick through gave Wire a four point lead as Bridge collected the kick and scored a nice try after 3 minutes Briers goaled to put Wire 6 nil ahead. Richie Barnett raced away after a pass from Toa Kohe -Love to score in the corner on 8 minutes, Briers drifted the kick wide the score nil - 10 . A Robbie Paul kick through collected by Torrens gave Huddersfield a try on 17 minutes goaled by De vere score 6-10. On 38 minutes Thorman kicked through taken by Nero for a try score is 10-10 .Half Time 10-10. Huddersfield's Aspinwall opens the second half scoring with a try on 52 minutes De Vere misses the kick, score 14 -10, 66 minutes McDonald and Westwood are sent to the sin bin for fighting Wire get the free kick, Chris Bridge takes advantage of the indiscretions to score under the sticks , Lee Briers adds the extras, score 14 -16. Minutes later Nero scores in the corner for Huddersfield, De Vere goals score 20-16, On 72 minutes Steven Wild goes 60 yds to score for Huddersfield to seal the win for the Yorkshire side, Thorman adds the two, score 26-16. Fa'Fili score in the corner on minutes Briers misses the kick score 26-20.The Rugby Football League will on Monday study claims from Warrington coach Paul Cullen that his right-winger Henry Fa'afili was injured by a Huddersfield water carrier in the build-up to the match-winning try. Cullen claimed that Fa'afili needed treatment after being hurt in a collision with Giants assistant coach Ben Cooper - a former player with Huddersfield and Leigh - and struggled to get back to prevent Chris Nero scoring the all-important touchdown. "The water boy ran on and knocked Henry flat on his backside and injured him," said Cullen. "Huddersfield scored the try that broke us in the next set. "It won't affect the result, but we have made our feelings known to the match commissioner."Despite the loss, Cullen was encouraged by an improved performance from his side, who were defeated 24-6 at home to Salford in their opening week. "It was much improved, but we still have a lot of work to do," he said. "We are bitterly disappointed we've not got the two points. We hurt ourselves with the penalties we conceded in the first and second tackles. "We lost a bit of momentum after going 10-0 up and let Huddersfield back in the game."

12th February. Warrington 6 Salford 24 Ht 6-10 A lively and workmanlike Salford put a dour out of touch Wire side to the sword at The Halliwell Jones Stadium today, Warrington looked flat tired and tried to win the game with one out tactics that were doomed to failure, out of the whole team only Lee Briers made any effort to get the team moving and his enterprising kicking brought Henry Fa'afili the only Wire score of the day his kicks brought other opportunities that did not come to fruition, thought for the day , as a team they must try harder, if this defeat gives Wire the impetus that the defeat at Salford last easter gave the team it may be worth the loss. Paul Cullen said "We were completely outplayed from start to finish by a far more enthusiastic Salford side. "I'm bitterly disappointed by our effort. Handling errors and lack of completion were the reasons we lost. "Salford were far more efficient and far more professional and applied their game-plan far more religiously than we did." .

More Tickets Available for Opener Warrington Wolves are delighted to announce further availability of tickets for the West Stand of The Halliwell Jones Stadium after visitors Salford City Reds failed to sell their allocation. This means even more Wolves fans will be able see Paul Cullen's side in action on Sunday (February 12th) as the new look squad kick start the new season with home fans dominating all four sides of the ground. The eagerly awaited Engage Super League XI opener, kick off 3pm, is heading for a sell out, but Wolves fans will still have the chance to pay on the day. With less than 300 tickets available for 'home areas', the opening fixture at the Halliwell Jones Stadium between Warrington Wolves and Salford City Reds was heading for a 'lock out'. However with Salford having sold only 400 tickets there is no need for fans to panic as they will be able to pay at the turnstiles on the day of the game. As fewer than 250 seats remain in the North Stand and less than 50 in the East, both stands are expected to sell-out prior to Sunday. Fans desperate for seats are encouraged to purchase early from the club shop to avoid any disappointment. On Wednesday the ever popular South Stand sold out completely, however great news as the West Stand has now gone on sale to Wolves supporters, stand tickets are available to purchase from the club shop open on Saturday (February 11th from 9-5pm) and the ticket office from 12 noon matchday. Ticketing Manager Dave Gittins, comments: "It is fantastic that we are heading for a total sell-out of 'home areas'. Record season ticket sales of almost 8,000 means that very few tickets remain on a match-to-match basis and fans need to be quick to purchase the few remaining available seats. As a result the club has recalled from Salford two thirds of the tickets for the West Stand meaning plenty are now available and Wolves fans should be in the majority."

9th February. Rauhihi Confirmed as New Club Captain Warrington Wolves have officially unveiled Paul Rauhihi as their new club caption for the 2006 season with Lee Briers remaining as team captain. The Engage Super League club from The Halliwell Jones Stadium arelooking to improve on last season's fourth place league finish and hope the New Zealand prop can assist in the clubs progress on and off the field. After the departure of Nathan Wood, who was vice captain, Paul Cullen has recruited well in the off-season and it's new boy Rauhihi who will take up the position of club captain for the forthcoming Engage Super League XI and Powergen Challenge Cup campaigns. Head Coach Paul Cullen, said: "I have made a significant change in thestructure of the leadership of our squad which I believe can drive us forward in our objective in improving on what was an exceptional effort last season." "Lee Briers, is one of the best tactical thinkers in the game and he, is again our team captain and main man. But instead of a vice captain last year it was Nathan Wood we will have a club captain and I have handed the role to Paul Rauhihi." "This is not to diminish Lee's responsibility but a positive move to make the best use of Paul's exceptional qualities which have been so much in evidence in the past three years." "There is a presence about Paul and not just because of his size - which I believe will complement the on field captaincy of Lee and drive us forward." Rauhihi arrived at the Halliwell Jones Stadium after sharing in the Kiwis' historic Tri Nations title in 2005. An intimidating enforcer who will give a huge boost to the club's 'go forward', he is a very fit athlete and was consistently amongst the leading props in the NRL for meterage and offloads. Formerly a radio fitter in the New Zealand navy, Rauhihi came into the professional game comparatively late and did not become a first grader until he was 24. Had been on the books at Auckland Warriors and Melbourne Storm before breaking into the NRL with Newcastle Knights in 1999, his career took off after he signed for Canterbury Bulldogs in 2001, breaking into the New Zealand Test team a year later. Signed for North Queensland Cowboys in 2004 and was a key part of the Cowboys' resurgence over the next two seasons, finishing his career in Townsville in the Grand Final against Wests Tigers in 2005. Captain and playmaker Lee Briers is delighted to continue his role as team captain with The Wolves. He has a world class kicking game with tremendous distance and accuracy from deep. Lee has matured into a first-rate organising halfback who finds holes in the line for his three-quarters and has a slicing dummy and step through the defence.

Teenager Ben Harrison looks set to get his big Super League break this season. At just 17 years old Harrison, who can play at both second-row and prop, has been handed a first team jersey at Warrington Wolves for the new campaign, which kicks off this weekend. The highly-rated youngster was plucked from the Barrow Island RL junior ranks two years ago by Warrington, who spotted him playing for England under-15s. At the time the Wolves beat Super League rivals St Helens and Leeds Rhinos to his signature. Since then the former Chetwynde School pupil has impressed all at the Haliwell-Jones Stadium. Now, with the number 26 jersey on his back, he hopes to get his chance to shine on rugby league’s top stage. “I’m really chuffed with how things are going here, it’s a good opportunity to see where I can get to with rugby,” said Harrison, whose older brother Liam plays in the centre for Barrow Raiders. “The plan is to see how it goes. This year the first team squad is really strong and it will be hard for me to get in the starting side, but hopefully I should get a couple of games and ease my way into it.” Pre-season has gone well for Harrison, who, together with the rest of the Wolves squad, spent time training in Lanzarote. He has also featured in the majority of the club’s pre-season friendly games. Harrison, who stands over six foot tall and weighs 103kg, will also continue playing for Warrington’s Academy outfit. He said: “I’ve finished pre-season and am feeling really fit. “Obviously it’s a step up to the first team and it is tougher, but I have dealt with it. “I love it here, sometimes I find myself in awe training with these great players.” .

Limited Tickets for Home Opener Less than 500 tickets remain on sale for Warrington Wolves opening Engage Super League XI fixture on Sunday, February 12th (kick-off 3pm) against the Salford City Reds. After announcing record breaking season ticket sales with more than 7,500 fans pledging their support, the club can now reveal that the general sale of tickets has seen a similar rush for seats and terrace spaces. As Warrington and the surrounding area gears up for another year of trials and tribulations at The Halliwell Jones the ticket office have been swamped with requests, from this week The Wolves can only offer a limited number of tickets for the opening fixture everyone has been waiting for. On Tuesday (February 7th) afternoon the club had just 500 tickets remaining for the visit of Karl Harrison's Salford. Around 100 remain in the East Stand, 300 in the North Stand and fewer than 100 in the South Stand. The visitors from Greater Manchester are expected to bring around 1,000 travelling supporters in the West Stand, although tickets for this area are also on sale to Wolves fans with 65% of the allocated tickets retained for the home side. With the fixture quickly selling out Warrington Wolves spectators are encouraged to purchase early and avoid disappointment as the hours tick away before the return of Super League action. Salford City Reds supporters can pay on the gate at The West Stand. Tickets are available from the club shop or online at www.wolfwareonline.com.

Paul Cullen.Coach Cullen insists his side can improve on last year's fourth place in Super League. Cullen guided the Wolves to their best ever Super League finish and only their second play-off appearance, but predicts there is more to come. "In some circles people thought we outdid ourselves, but we think there was an element of underachievement to our season," Cullen told BBC Sport. "Our goal is very simple we want to do better than last year." Warrington's impressive climb up the table surprised many observers, but their season ended in disappointment with a 40-6 loss to Hull in the play-offs. "To finish fourth was little short of remarkable," added Cullen, who appeared in 348 games for Warrington as a player. "But there is room for improvement. We had two games - Huddersfield and Salford away - where our performance was unacceptable. "If we could have won those games, it would have made a huge difference to our final league placing and maybe the way the play-offs shaped up. "We got knocked out of the Challenge Cup in the first round and still haven't won a play-off game - so there are some very obvious goals we want to achieve. "As the season progressed we hit top form for about three months. This year we want to find that form a bit earlier and keep it going a bit longer." Stuart Reardon fell out of favour at Bradford last season Stuart Reardon is still young but has already done it at the highest level Warrington coach Paul Cullen The main reason for Cullen's optimism is the quality of the club's new signings with the likes of Paul Rauhihi, Stuart Reardon and Michael Sullivan all moving to the Halliwell Jones Stadium. "We believe we have loaded from above and brought real quality to the club," said Cullen. "For example, we've added to the experience, maturity and knowledge in the squad with the signing of Paul Rauhihi. Warrington clinch Rauhihi signing "He successfully guided the North Queensland Cowboys from obscurity to the pinnacle of the NRL. Last year he was part of the senior player group who turned New Zealand into Tri-Nations champions. Reardon leaves Bulls for Warrington "In Stuart Reardon we have a player who has come to us off the radar. "He's a Great Britain international who will be an enormous asset, whether he plays as a winger, centre or full-back. He is someone who is still young but has already done it at the highest level." Five-star Gleeson sinks Salford Cullen is also grateful to start the season with a full-strength squad after his players emerged unscathed from their pre-season friendlies. "We've prepared well and worked hard and we go into round one with all 26 of our full-time squad healthy and available for selection," he said. "The real bonus is that five senior players had surgery at the end of last season and they have all come through their rehabilitation really well. We really can't wait for our first game."

6th February. Paul Cullen is expecting that there will be no players missing from the 26 man Squad to play Salford on Sunday, Stuart Readon who had a slight neck muscle strain after the Mike Wainwright Testimoial took part in training on Friday, and Mark Hilton who played for the academy on Sunday and Lee Briers are also fit again after a virus infection.

With possible room on their 20/20 register have Wire made a bid for Danny Ward, his manager has stated he has all but signed for a SL club, and as PC keeps his signings close to his chest could it be the Wire . Time will tell.

2nd February. If Wire fans were picking the Squad for next term then I am afraid Mark Hilton could be looking for another team,on a thread on RL.Fans.com very few fans picked Mark in their 17 man squads and with new signings Paul Rauhihi and Rob Parker on the books Hilton could be struggling to get picked, Rauhihi made a subdued debut against Salford last night, but havbng said that Wire players will have to learn to follow the player and expect an off load out of the tackle which was his stock in trade last year in Australia. Danny Lima was looking sharp as was Rob Parker And Michael Sullivan was confirming his class as he continues to impress with some good running passing and kicking. Cull's Comments

Game On! After today's pitch inspection Steve Simms (Salford) and Paul Cullen have confirmed that the pitch is playable. Supporters with tickets for the East Stand will be given seats in the North Stand at no extra cost. After ten years service for The Wolves as a reliable and industrious forward the born and bred Warringtonian is set take to the field for his testimonial fixture on Tonight (kick-off 7.30pm) which will be the squad's last outing before the Engage Super League XI campaign commences. Wainwright, known affectionately as Wedge by his team-mates and supporters, is fully fit and raring to go ahead of an encounter he sees as more than a tribute to his services, but a chance to stake his claim for a starting place in the opening Super League fixture, once again against Salford City Reds on Friday, February 12th. Mike Wainwright, explained: "Tonight is going to be so special for me, especially with all my family and friends there. More than anything else I'll just be proud taking to the field after ten years playing for the club. I still have a lot of friends at Salford so I'm looking forward to renewing acquaintances on and off the field." "Although it's a testimonial game every player knows that competition for places has stepped up and it's our last chance on the field to impress before the season starts. We know it's expected to be Paul Rauhihi's debut and I'm sure it will be one to remember, so many fans have told me they are itching to watch him in action." Head Coach Paul Cullen, added: "I hope Mike has a bumper benefit because he has never given less than 100 per cent to Warrington's cause. "Defensively he gets through a tremendous amount of work in every game. His defence is much stronger than many people acknowledge, while his ability to release the ball in the tackle is so often a key component, in fact the starting point for our attacks down the left hand side of the field." "He has been a very important part of our progress in the past three years and I am sure Mike will benefit from the introduction of big men Paul Rauhihi and Rob Parker next season.

New Alternative Strip Unveiled Warrington Wolves have officially unveiled their new away shirt, which goes on sale on Monday, February 6th. The striking Puma jersey which is predominately dark blue features a yellow collar and trim plus white under arm panels. The shirt, which is priced from £42 for adults, £35 for youths and £32 in children's sizes, includes full sponsoring on the sleeves and neck giving the authentic match look. The colour scheme will give Wolves fans a flash back to yesteryear and the clubs Wilderspool days, but it's on the road in the Engage Super League XI and Powergen Challenge Cup that Head Coach Paul Cullen will be hoping dark blue can inspire his troops. The Wolves will take to the field in the new strip for the first time at the Galpharm Stadium against Huddersfield Giants on February 19th. Dave Hutchinson, Commercial Director at Warrington Wolves, said: "We are very excited by the new alternative shirt design and feedback from those lucky few who have so far seen it has been superb. It has an impressive sharp look which gives fans a good contrast to the traditional looking home jersey; we will be playing in at least a dozen games during Engage Super League, plus the Powergen Challenge Cup. They will no doubt be plenty of exciting action in the alternative strip, which is a great excuse to buy one so you can show off your colours with The Wolves whilst on the road." The away shirt and socks (£8.99 adults/£7.99 juniors) will be available to purchase online at www.wolfwareonline.com from Monday (February 6th). The Wolfware Shop at The Halliwell Jones Stadium will be selling the kit from Tuesday, February 14th. The store will also be open until 7pm on Thursday 16th February to give all supporters their chance to get kitted out for away days.
